FOOD-PANTRY @ MORNING-SIDE is created to address the escalating poverty and hunger in Morningside and GTA incorporating a food distribution model that respects clients’ character and dignity while making food more accessible to the community.

We work tirelessly to uplift our community
from the shackles of
hunger, poverty, and social disadvantage.

This program was kicked off on 16 August 2016 to provide hunger relief by making food accessible to everyone who needs food assistance and does not have enough income or resources to put food on the table.

  • We stood up to advocate for food as a fundamental human right rather than an issue of charity, shame or stigma by encouraging community members to become gardeners, cooks and engaged citizens, vested in sustainable agriculture instead of solely being passive recipients of food handouts
  • To see food as an agent of social change, and provide information/referrals, and employment and skills development programs aimed to address some of the root causes of hunger and food unaffordability.
  • To work towards the development of a warm meal program aimed to widen the scope of food accessibility to individuals and families without the resources to prepare meals.
